A Night of Comedy - Review

Hello everyone! Bit of a different kind of post today, I hope you don't mind (sorry if you do!). I was asked by my lovely bestio Amber to write a blog post about the show I went to see on Saturday night, and of course I just couldn't turn down such a good offer.

So to give a brief outline - Amber attends a group within the local thearte who help to organise, advertise and generally produce various different productions. They mainly focus on music events however this particular event was a live comedy evening.

The evening started off with 4 guys who have all acted at the thearte previously. They were all amateurs and as far as I am aware had never done stand up comedy before. Despite this they were all hilarious and had me in stitches right from the moment they walked on the stage.

I stole all of these pictures from the thearte's facebook page, sorry to whoever took them!

The main 'headliner' for the evening was a comedian named Sara Pascoe. Prior to this event I had seen Sara on a few different shows and was super excited to be seeing her live in my tiny town. Sara was just as great as I had imagined her to be, she was funny, relatable and even a little inspiring despite me having no aspiration to be a comedian!

Overall I thought the live comedy evening was extremely entertaining and a true credit to all the producers who helped to organise it. Well done guys!

January Favourites 2014

Hello everyone! First of all I'd like to apologise for not blogging in a few days (10 to be precise), I've been drowning in college work and simply haven't had time to take any photos! However today I am back with my very first favorites post, so lets get cracking!

IT by Alexa Chung

I've read this book twice over the past month and I enjoyed it as much the second as I did the first. 'It' is a collection of Alexa's writing, doodles and photographs. Alexa uses the medium of words, doodles and photographs to tell stories about her early style icons, memoirs from events and even little snippets of advice such as 'How to get dressed in the morning' and 'the challenges of taking a good selfie', always good to know if you ask me. This book is super easy to read so even if you aren't into reading (like I am!) I would still highly recommend it.

Tartan Scarf
(I found mine on a local market stall, however Primark do a similar one)

I'm pretty sure every man and their dog has a tartan scarf at the moment but tartan is a trend that I simple can not resist. I've worn this scarf pretty much everyday for sixth form since we went back after christmas, it is so versatile and goes with pretty much everything, the perfect acessory for an otherwise boring outfit.

Davina Fit in 15

If you know me in real life then the chances are you are aware of how much hatred I have for physical exercise... basically if I have to walk for more than 10 meters I'm not interested. However for the past month me and my mum have been doing these 15 minute workouts a few times a week. They may only be 15 minutes long but by golly do you work hard in those 15 minutes! They slowly build in intensity throughout the duration and by the end I am usually collapsed in a heap on the floor. Nevertheless I have actually been really enjoying it, I feel fresh, de-stressed and I can also (slowly) feel myself getting some muscle definition despite not changing my eating habits in the slightest. If you are trying to get a little fitter for the new year then I strongly suggest buying this for a fun and quick workout.

Baby Lips Cherry

I'm sure you're all sick of reading about Baby lips, but nonetheless I thought I'd tell you all how much I've been loving the cherry flavour this month. Such a perfect everyday berry colour, it has been especially good at keeping my lips moisturised in the cold conditions.

Witch Blemish Stick

I'm usually fairly lucky in the skin department and only get a few small blemishes once in a while, however at the start of the month I had a major breakout! So I had a quick search through some blogs and found mainly positive reviews for this product and I was not disappointed. I kid you not within a day my spots were visibly reduced without drying my skin out like some blemish reducers have done. An all round winner if you ask me.

Maybelline Big Eyes

I actually only bought this mascara a few days ago but I can already tell that this is going to by my new holy grail mascara. I absolutely love the idea of having a separate, smaller, brush for my bottom lashes and I can't understand why more high street brands haven't invented this before now! I am thinking about doing a full review on this so let me know if you're interested in that.

Hope you enjoyed my first favourites post, thanks for reading!

Manicure Monday #2

Hello everyone! After the success of my last Manicure Monday post (which can be found here) I've decided to return for round 2. This time with something a little more out of my comfort zone... nail art pens! To do the 'petals' I used a nail art pen from Models Own, although I have had this for a few months this was by far my most successful attempt. I do find the pens difficult to use as you don't have much control, however I think after a little bit of practice I may be able to create some good designs (I hope!).
I didn't want the flowers to be too perfect so I quickly swiped the white brush across a black base coat. I really like how the nails turned out and I have received a lot of compliments on them today which is always nice!

Thanks for reading!

Liebester Award

Over the past 48 hours 4 people have nominated me for the Liebester (anyone fancy informing me why its called that? Sounds like lobster to me which puts me right off) award, absolutely crazy considering I didn't expect anyone to read my blog let alone enjoy it as well, so thank you to everyone that's been reading and leaving me lovely comments, I appreciate every single one of them.

Revlon ColourStay Ultimate Suede - Review

Hello everyone! At the weekend I went to my local superdrug store in the hunt for a red lipstick. I'm not normally one for a bold lip but I really want to try and rock the red. I found these Revlon ColorStay lips colours in Finale (095) and Socialite (025) which brings me onto the review...
The Revlon website states that this range of lip colours has a "velvety soft formula with moisturising shea butter and aloe is food proof and doesn't quit." I would 100% agree with this. When applied the lip colours look slightly sheer but they soon dry to matte, without drying your lips out. I wore the red shade for a full day on Sunday and only felt the need to re apply once, somewhat of a novelty for such a brightly pigmented lip shade. I also didn't feel that it was going to smudge all over my face or, even worse, onto my teeth, which for someone who has a genuine fear of bold lip colours is a welcome surprise! Bravo Revlon, Bravo.
Please note the swatches do look a lot brighter in real life than they do on this picture, sorry!

This range of Revlon lip sticks (and the Revlon Lip Butters) are currently reduced from £8.99 to only £5, both online and in Superdrug Stores. Superdrug are also offering free delivery on orders over £10, so why not treat yourself to a little mid week pick me up!

OOTD - Tartan skirt & a Red lip

Jacket - Miss Selfridge
Jumper - Next (similar)
Skirt - Newlook
Boots - Firetrap at USC
Hello everyone! Today I decided to shoot my first ever OOTD post, I don't class myself to be the most fashionable person ever and I can usually be found in my PJ's and slippers, but I did manage to drag myself out of them and put on something a little more stylish (I hope!).
Bright lipstick is a million miles out of my comfort zone, but like I said in my new years resolutions post, I really do want to try and push my self out of those boundaries. This is the Revlon Colour Stay in Finale, its a gorgeous berry red colour and so far I really like it! Hopefully I will have the confidence to wear it on a regular basis.
I'd also like to quickly mention these boots; I bought them from USC at the start of winter, I've worn them quite a lot since then for both school and casual, they're super comfy and only £17.50 at the moment, an absolute steel for a pair of, real leather, firetrap boots if you ask me.

I hope you're all having a lovely weekend!

Chocolate Cookies

I didn't take pictures whilst I was making them (what a bad blogger I am) however this is the final product!
Hello everyone! I had no lessons this morning so decided to use my time productively and bake some cookies! I absolutely adore baking (especially eating the final product) and cookies are one of my all time favourite thing to make.

I used Tanya Burr's recipe and was really pleased with how they turned out, however they are HUGE!

Manicure Monday

Hello everyone! Thought I'd show you a quick post about the nails I did last night because I am really happy with the way they turned out. Apologises that they are a little chipped in places, but what can I say, I'm a busy lady ;)

I used Models Own 'Southern Lights' and Essie 'Bobbing for Baubles
For the studs I used the Seventeen nail studs I purchased at the weekend (featured in my post here). They were an absolute bitch to get on, I used nail glue and tweezers to try and get them in the right place and after a long and hard struggle they did eventually stay put. Phew.

Finally, I would like to say a HUGE thank you to the lovely Kelly from http://basicallykellyblog.blogspot.co.uk/ for her wonderful shoutout! Thank you Kelly!

January sales haul

Hello everyone! Today I finally managed to drag myself out of a self induced Toblerone coma to hit the sales, so I thought I would make a post of the things I purchased.

Daisy collared top - £6.00
Dungaree skater dress - £5.00

I picked up these 2 gems in Primark, the Daisy collared top wasn't in the sale but for only £6.00 who can complain?! I'd had my eye on this dungaree dress for quite a few weeks now but every time I looked my size wasn't available, so I was delighted to find it today in the right size AND less than half price! Super cute and it goes perfectly with the top.

T Bar geeks shoes (topshop) - £32.00
Frilly socks (river island) - £4.00
A few weeks ago I tried the red version of these shoes on in Topshop and decided that another pair of red footwear was the last thing I needed, however when I spotted this gorgeous plum colour I was sold.

No7 Nail polish in 'Twinkle glitter' - £3.00
Seventeen nail studs - £2.00
Miss sporty fabulous eyes in 'Chocolate' - £2.99
EcoTools full eyeshadow brush - £5.49
The last place I visited was Boots where I was more than delighted to find a reduced section. I managed to find the set of nail studs and the No7 nail polish, which looks remarkably similar to the `Models Own' firework collection. I also picked up an EcoTools eyeshadow brush after hearing good things about them. Let me know if you'd like a review of any of these products!
